In making these fishy bites, that will have your pup (and kitty) eating out of your hand, we use air-flown chilled Norwegian Fjord Trout, sourced fresh from our fishmonger. We process it directly from the market, using only the meat from the fillet, after trimming off the skin and fat.
The reason we choose chilled trout instead of frozen is because we freeze-dry from raw, and notably with fish which has a more delicate texture, the texture & taste of the flesh changes when processed from frozen, and if it has been frozen for a longer length of time. We source & process our fish whole, to be sure of its freshness and quality.
Norwegian fjord trout comes from the pristine, ice-cold Norwegian fjords where seawater meets fresh meltwater from the glaciers. The colour of the meat is brighter than salmon, and the flesh is leaner, as most of the fat is in the belly (which we cannot process as fats do not dry).
Fjord trout is a fatty fish that is rich in protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, which contributes to a healthy heart and skin and coat, Vitamin D to strengthen bones, Vitamin B12, Vitamin A, iodine and antioxidants.
NOTE: Due to the fatty nature of the fish, we vacuum pack the contents into 20g bags for freshness. In view of our local humid weather, we recommend refrigeration if not consumed within 1 month.
We are new to making freeze-dried treats, and we make them in small batches each time so freeze-dried treats will be restocked weekly on Saturday @ 10am (sometimes on Tuesday if there is a higher demand). We do not accept back or pre-orders. If you have any special requests, you may contact us to see if we are able to meet them. NOTE: These treats are freeze-dried from raw and intended for feeding pets only. Please do not eat and keep away from children.
RECOMMENDED STORAGE: Once opened, reseal pack tightly and store in a cool dry place for up to 1 month, and in the fridge for up to 6 months.
